Great location near China town short walk to Darling harbour. Rooms are immaculate with modern furniture, staff was friendly and helpful, would definately stay there again. Alan & Pauline Round. Durham UK
Although the restaurant in the hotel was very good I do believe that there could have been more variety on the menu for dinner. This is comparing to other restaurants in the area that did have more to choose on their menus. The location of the hotel is excellent to all siteseeing activities and also public transport was outside the door. The staff on a a whole was extremely helpful and polite which made our stay at the hotel very pleasant. I would recommend this hotel to other people as it was value for money and we would also go back if we should return to Sydney in the near future.
No plates or cutlery except for one teaspoon. Bill was issued in incorrect name, luckily there was no amount outstanding. Otherwise, it was an excellent location for my purposes and the room and bathroom were quite good.
Great value for money for a 4.5 star. Should be advertised on the website that parking is extra. Staff could have given us a room with a better view on a higher floor, otherwise great.
very convenient for darling harbour, a bit far for opera house and circular quay attractions, need to catch a train for that. Hotel is about 2 blocks away from Town Hall station. Room service on Saturday night was problematic as the operator did not answer initially and i had to go around the call system for about 10-15 minutes before they had to call me back and get my order in at 9.30pm. would stay again though for the location and general ambience.

I had booked a room for three people, which I got a room with two King single beds, and the room is very small.
A most enjoyable stay - there are only two improvements that I could suggest, and even one of them may be outside the control of the hotel. Firstly, my wife found the bed a bit too hard - and truth be told, it was rather firm. Secondly, the location becomes a bit noisy at times....with sirens etc, wailing at all hours...maybe some double glazing??? Overall, very good, and I will stay there again.
Not the best location in town, but big clean rooms with good facilities. Nice restaurant and excellent jazz bar (the band finished a little early). Quick and efficient valet parking services.
I have stayed here several times. This stay was marred by very noisy guests on my floor for the first time. I don't find the breakfast good value for money and the bar & restaurant were not staffed at all times when I needed afternoon tea etc. I still love the atmosphere at this hotel and hope I can enjoy it again with improved service.
CAR PARKING WAS VERY EXPENSIVE. $52.50 FOR 2 NIGHTS.
Strategically located, within walking distance to train stations.Ideal for those not driving.Easily assessible to many good restaurants and shops.Pleasantly surprised hotel offers adjoining rooms-main room with kingsize bed and the other room with 2 single beds.Just right for families.Rooms are very well cleaned.Value for money hotel. Will return to stay when back to Sydney, except valet parking is expensive at AUD$12 per night,50% of the night parking fee,at A$24.
Since we were only there for 1 night we did not quite see or use the facilities (ie like the gym), the aid of umbrellas when it was raining was appreciated. Both myself & my husband were highly impressed with everything including the size of the bed (very nice).
It's convenient location and nice facility. also spacious. Enjoyed stay there very much.
Had three great nights there. Buffet breakfast very nice! They gave us a free late check-out.

When I arrived I was assigned a smoking room. I don't smoke! I asked if i can get a non smoking room, but was told to try and see if it's OK not too bad?!?! I asked to save me time and just give me a non smoking, to be told they are fully booked. I will never stay at this hotel again.
I would not recommend this hotel. I had a laptop and accessories stolen from my locked hotel room which heavily points the finger towards the hotel staff. This is a business hotel and one would expect a level of confidence and trust in the hotel security and staff arrangement. To date this is unresolved with the hotel taking little responsibility.
Good location, reasonable price. however, room service is very disappointed when i expected it's a four or five star hotel. staff did not replace the towels that placed in the bathtub. they just hanged it back on the rack, i thought it was fresh one. when i unfold it, they were wet and have blood mark on it. unacceptable!!!
Great hotel
The concierge group were extremely helpful. Some of the front desk staff not so helpful - very good at looking busy and not making eye contact with guests

The beds were poor. The pillows were even worse. The rooms were outdated and poorly designed.
We stayed in this hotel as a Priority Guest client (3 Days), it was very/extreemely good. We noticed the level of service to a Hotel Club member (4 Nights) was different. Different class of room and bed. As a sports fan the ESPN Channel was low to non-existant and missed UK soccer. This was reported to staff four times and had as far as I could see, no effect. Room allocated as a Priority Guest was quiet (outside noises) where as a Hotelclub member it was noisy (outside traffic)
Checked in early - very good. Room OK but a bit stale. We overlook a roof and was very dark. Needed all the three lights on to see. All amenities were satisfactory - we paid $200 per night, which is a bit steep, but it is central Sydney. Great location and very quiet.
Helpful and friendly staff. Reliable too! Good walking distance from restaurants, shops and transport. Felt secure with card access to lift as well as room.
Rooms were very well ventilated.
It was a wonderful hotel - we had a brilliant stay and will definitely stay there again.
the mattress in my room needed replacing otherwise perfect
Having paid for a deluxe twin room we were very disappointed in the size and facilities in the room. Having stayed in many five star hotels around the world, we would only give the rating for this hotel as three stars. After complaining to the duty manager about the room we were given the use of the executive lounge which was very good. However, it was an eye opener to see one of the staff (who has since left) helping herself to the canapes!
Found breakfast very expensive $25 for continental,$32 for full breakfast inclusive.$16 for pastries etc woefull and not inviting at all.Room service was excellent and meals very nice.Though I dont like sachets used ie tomatoe sauce makes presentation cheap.Fridge bar in room was good though in non alchol was limited to coke only, gaterade and orange fruit juice only.Net service available for wireless in room, and business centre for acess 24 hours, price $8 for an hour but only 2 computers in room.Found it very busy.Shuttlebus to airport excellent.Has car parking facalities available. Not central enough for opera house, circular quay etc.Staff were very friendly and approachable.Would stay there again .

Considering this hotel is rated four and half stars I thought the rooms were very basic.
A well appointed hotel in a good location for me. The service level is satisfactory for my requirements.
Location is excellent as it is close to the city and shopping areas. Clean and tidy. A short term drawback -- near door to a big construction site.
There were only 3 Power transformers available for all visitors within the hotel. This limited capacity restricted my abilty to compile business reports on my laptop from within the hotel room. This limitation unfortunately resulted in a shortened visit to Sydney as I was forced to return home early to accomplish my reports.
The Avillion is in close proximity to Darling Harbour, and it is easy to get to the monorail, subway, and light rail systems; also an easy stroll to the Pitt Street Mall. Most of the concierge staff were extremely helpful. Fitness facility is acceptable, no pool however. Good weekend breakfast buffet, though overpriced. Live jazz in the lounge three nights per week.
too normal for a five star hotel, not exactly what I hoped for..
Huge beds but hard as concrete ! Location, bar and restaurant -GREAT.
Good location and generally good service. Very overpriced
I was pleasantly surprised, and will use the hotel again
